A chest X-Ray is required in order to check for evidence of active or inactive Tuberculosis Disease prior to the immigrant’s arrival in Canada to ensure that they are treated and no longer infectious. In addition we are also able to confirm or exclude any other serious lung disease.

These tests can only be requested by IRCC-approved doctors. One of these doctors will give you an X-Ray requisition. Simply provide our team with your Immigration X-Ray Requisition along with your unique IME number and any government issued identification at the clinic.

What Happens During My IME Exam?

When you visit Saddletown Radiology for your IME X-ray, you will be welcomed by our team, asked to complete any paperwork then asked to change into a provided gown.

You will be asked to remove any metal objects including jewelry, watches, clips, pins, and any clothes with metal buttons, zippers, or snaps.

If you are female, between the ages of 11 to 55 you will be asked about the possibility of pregnancy. If pregnant, you will be required to complete a consent form prior to proceeding.

Your radiologist will help move you into different positions while standing with your chest against an upright board. You will then be asked to take a deep breath and hold it while your X-ray is taken. It is important that you stay very still while the x-ray is taken.

Once our radiologist confirms that we have captured good quality images, you will be free to leave.

Your X-rays will be reviewed by our Radiologist who will compile a report and send it to your doctor.

If you have any questions about our Immigrant and Refugee X-Ray program, please be sure to talk to our team prior to your x-ray procedure.
